Calling Are you paying for voice lines you are not using? Most companies have over-capacity in their copper voice networks. This is because with copper-based lines or digital ISDN, enough channels need to be provided in your network to allow for your peak daily call rate at each site to avoid losing calls. With VoIP, SIP channels are allocated across the network, dramatically reducing the capacity you need and pay for. Then SIP channels are delivered at about half the cost of traditional copper-based services. Turnstone has three POIs (points of inter-connect) for voice with the PSTN (public switch telephone network) with TelstraClear, a tier 1 carrier, with built-in resiliency designed to provide 5Nines (99.999%) calling availability. This has proven exceptionally reliable since we launched our VoIP service in 2005 . Are you using VoIP but your customers cannot hear you? Voice communication is an important business tool, enabling your staff to communicate quickly and easily with your customers. Business voice calls need to be of high quality and clarity so you can concentrate on the message. To ensure the highest call quality using VoIP we use a CD-quality voice codec, and own and manage the PSTN to SIP gateways. This allows us to ensure we have enough capacity to deliver all calls with no degradation in call quality. How VoIP communications will save you money By having POPs in the major centres and least-cost routing across our nationwide core network, most of your national calls are delivered over our network as local calls. Any inter-branch calls delivered across your Turnstone managed WAN or internet VPN will be free. Least-cost routing and competitive rates for local, national, international and mobile calling reduces your international, national and mobile calling costs. Is it easy for your customers to call you? Toll-free calling (0800) can provide your customers with easy-to-remember numbers (or keywords) to ring. You can have different numbers for different business units or teams, and have call routing by date, time of day, location (down to local exchange level) and more. Having these number options makes it simple and convenient for your customers, but can be complex to manage. Turnstone can advise and manage your toll-free numbers or provide you with an easy management tool if you want control yourself (say for specific toll-free number marketing campaigns). In the event of an emergency - say you lose your voice PBX - we can provide a single user-activated button to switch your incoming toll-free calls to a pre-set emergency plan so you never miss a call. How do I get started with VoIP? To connect with VoIP across your company you will need a VoIP-based system such as Turnstone Cloud Voice service. If you would prefer a system you own, Turnstone can specify and supply class-leading, appliance-based VoIP systems from Avaya and Cisco. Turnstone will manage the setup of the new system including the number porting from your existing provider.
